The Babbletees Team
Josh Saathoff - Art Director/Operations/Production
Josh started out pursuing Fine Art, but the universe led him to Graphic
Design as he found it the perfect way to mass-produce functional and
wearable graphic art. Saathoff, an unrealized country-boy at heart,
returned to the Hinterlands of Illinois to start BabbleTees after
being suffocated in Chicago-land’s claustrophobic vortex of hyper
consumerism.
He is a fanatical garden & landscaper - especially dwarf conifers, ornamental grasses, native herbaceous perennials inspired by the new wave gardening style pioneered by Piet Ouldolf - as well as enjoying Science Fiction, hiking, golf, SimCity 4, camping & anything involving the outdoors and designing exceedingly idiosyncratic, unique t-shirts.
Josh loves playing with asymmetry layouts, visual texture, contrasting forms, and analogous or other advanced, sophisticated (often times silly) color schemes in his quirky t-shirt designs. Josh's Tshirt designs draw highly from Art History, especially mid-20th Century Swiss Graphic Design and International Style, His enigmatic dreams, fascination with infrastructure & industry, all things European, introverted daydream meanderings, and crafty childhood memories influence his signature garment graphics.
He is responsible for running every aspect of Babbletees. E-mail him: josh[at]babbletees.com with any questions/comments about our designs or to babble about politics, deep thoughts, tabby cats or the latest esoteric dwarf conifer.
Josh’s favorite BabbleTees are German Food Chain Diagram, Organic Chemistry-beginnings of life, Carbon Cycle, and Vintage Dutch Population Density Map (even though its brightness stops traffic and can be seen from outer space).
